Let the 2022 Scituate Youth Lacrosse season begin!
As the snow is melting and the days are getting warmer it’s time to start to think about lax season! We are so excited to work with the players this spring and teach them the game of lacrosse, but more importantly to have a lot of fun and hopefully learn to love this fast-paced dynamic sport.
I am Emma Durnin and am the 1st grade girls level coordinator. I helped coach Little Sailors program last year with my daughter Maeve who is currently a 1stgrader at Wampatuck. Sarah Papi is the 2nd grade girls level coordinator, her daughter Avery is in 2nd grade at Cushing. We are fortunate this year to have a great line-up of coaches and thank them very much for volunteering. The coaches include:
First Grade:
Tina DeLawter (Lindsey’s mom)
Aime Nagle (Lucy’s mom)
Ralph Studley (Eleanor’s dad)
Brian McLaughlin (Dylan’s dad)
Colleen Richards (Nora's mom)
Second Grade:
Laura Callahan (Charlie’s mom)
Courtney DeLacy (Lea’s mom)
Trish Griffiths (Grace’s mom)
Lauren Prentiss (Cora’s mom)
Katie White (Winsor's mom)
We are really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of the players and having some fun on the field this spring. We will be in touch with you throughout the season via email (not nearly as long as this one is, I promise!) but feel free to reach out to Sarah and I via text or email at any time as well. All emails will also be saved and available on the SYL website for your reference. Registration will remain open for any last minute additions, so please spread the word and refer friends who might be interested to sign up at http://www.scituatelacrosse.com.
Practices
1st and 2nd grade practices will be combined and will be held Wednedays from 5-6pm at the Recreation Field and Saturdays from 1-2pm at the High School Turf Softball field beginning 4/13. We also are likely to add a few other scrimmages, potentially on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon, and we'll keep you posted. *There is a tentative Jamboree on 5/15 - details to follow. The season will wrap up in early June (6/12 at the latest). We will not play if it is freezing, there is hard rain, or if the fields are closed but will always send an email to communicate that information as soon as possible.
Equipment
Hopefully you received an email from Tosh Adams with more detail, but please let us know if not. The players will need a stick, goggles, and mouth guard each week. We will supply everyone with a pinney (needed for each practice) and a shooting shirt. Be sure to layer for the elements and to bring a water bottle each week.
We hope the players are as excited as we are to get started and that by the end of the season they will have developed confidence, strength and made some new friends along the way!
Thanks!
Emma & Sarah
