Program Philosophy and Mission:
The mission of the TTL is to provide an in-town development resource for the more experienced youth lacrosse players as a natural extension, and in support of, the town MBYLL/rec lacrosse programs. The TTL will not replace or diminish the role of the MBYLL, but strengthen its ability and capacity to focus on developing new player's interest, basic skills, and passion for the game. TTL will also provide a more affordable and more accessible competitive development option then other in-season, out-of-town alternatives and will promote higher levels of participation overall. TTL will also better support a player's transition from youth to high school by allowing them to develop with their direct peer group within their own town system.
Coaching and Development Philosophy:
The TTL's goal is to provide players with the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of the game within their town peer group and create a stronger program identity and team dynamic. As a compliment to the basic skill development of the MBYLL, the TTL addresses the needs of the more experienced players who are willing to make lacrosse their primary athletic commitment during the spring season. The coaching focus will be on teaching advanced team skills in preparation for playing at a higher level, specifically with their respective high school programs. The TTL coaching focus will on teaching the structure and strategies of a winning TEAM effort and in showing youth players how they can best contribute to a team effort. Balanced playing time will be encouraged; however, players will be challenged to "earn" playing time by demonstrating their ability to play within a team system to produce a winning outcome. Outstanding sportsmanship and a commitment to "Honoring the Spirit of the Game" will be fundamental principles of every coach and player's participation.
